Behind BailaSiempre
Émilie · Creator of BailaSiempre
I discovered salsa in the summer of 2022, at a night out at Cabaret Sauvage in Paris. Some friends had invited me to a special Venezuela-themed evening. The atmosphere was incredible and on the dance floor I saw people dancing salsa for the first time. I wanted to learn. I had no idea yet how much salsa would come to mean to me.
That autumn, I went looking for classes. What immediately drew me in was role rotation: learning to lead and to follow, and switching roles during the dance, without it being decided in advance based on who you are. At the time, there was only one class of this kind in Paris. That teaching has deeply influenced my vision of partner dancing.
Over the course of the year, I discovered that the style I was learning was called Cuban salsa. I have since started exploring other Latin dances and I am still learning.
Baila Siempre is the site I needed when I started — to easily find evenings and classes, knowing whether the environment is inclusive. Because dance is more beautiful when everyone feels at home.
I work in web, and I built this site from scratch for the Latin and social dance community, putting my passions and values into it.
